John 13:18-38

Jesus has just identified the person who would betray him. What might of gone though his mind when He found out? Did he know it all along? When He called him to be a disciple, did he know that he would betray him? If He did know all along, He didn't let on. He still treated Judas like all of the others. In fact in verse one, He loved Judas unto the end. So, He tells Judas to go and do quickly what he needs to do. Then something amazing happens; vs 34,35 He says, "A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another as I have loved you. I would think that in the moment of being betrayed by a trusted associate that the last thing on his mind would be "love". I would be thinking about getting even, payback, vengence! What a lesson! We all encounter people who betray us in life, a husband, wife, child, parent, best friend. Can we respond the same way as Jesus? This is the first time reading through this that I saw this truth. The Holy Spirit still openes our eyes to the truth that he has for us. God Still Speaks Today!
